Willie Waddle is a stand-up comedian from the Metropolis Zone, Mobius. The penguin specialises in jokes about Doctor Robotnik, his show being full of them. Waddle admits that "the best way to deal with a bully is to make him a figure of fun".
History[]
After one of his successful gigs, Waddle was approached by an agent from Mobius Airways, offering the penguin a free holiday. Waddle immediately took him up on the offer, completely unaware that the travel agent was just Doctor Robotnik in disguise. Flying above the Scorchio Zone, Robotnik revealed himself and pressed an ejector seat, Waddle's seat tipping him into the desert below. The experience scarred Waddle and he vowed to no longer tell any jokes. However, Tails arrived to take him back for his act that night. A depressed Waddle reluctantly agreed, but the pair were attacked by a new Sandworm, a blast from the Badnik landing Waddle on his back. The ex-comedian considered running away whilst the Sandworm was busy killing Tails, but thought about Tails' kindness and went back to help. Waddle told a joke to the confused Sandworm, giving Tails time to recover and destroy the Badnik. Realising he was born to tell jokes, Waddle happily accompanied Tails to the Comedy Club and completed his show. Tails briefly wondered if he should have left Waddle in Scorchio after hearing his act, but revealed he was only joking.
Some time later, Waddle was called upon to help Tails once more. The fox was searching for Claws, a criminal from the Polarzone. Suspecting something would go wrong, Tails enlisted Waddle to wait by the waters and come to his aid should anything happen. Sure enough, Tails was tied to a sinking ice floe and would have drowned and Waddle not swam up and untied him. To make things worse for Claws, Willie unleashed a barrage of "snow" puns to reinforce the bear's misery.

- The penguin's surname refers to a penguin's method of walking. The full name sounds like "Will he waddle?".
- Waddle was mistakenly shown to have teeth in one panel of his second appearance.
