Story[]
The once lush and green Pleasant Zone and all its residents have been frozen solid, and the Freedom Fighters have arrived to find out why. Suddenly a robot bursts out of the ice and freezes Johnny. Before it can do the same to Sonic, it is immediately destroyed. Realising one robot alone couldn't freeze an entire zone, the remaining heroes leap into the chasm the robot came from, and encounter its creator, The Chiller, with three more models. The Chill-Bots freeze both Porker and Tails and are able to freeze Sonic's feet to the floor, being faster and stronger than the prototype Sonic fought before. Knowing the usual routines, Sonic asks the Chiller to get his villainous monologue out of the way, and he happily obliges, revealing the Chill-Machine who froze the zone, and his bitterness over having his weather control ideas rejected. By the time he's finished, Sonic has been able to vibrate his feet fast enough to break the ice and smashes the Chill-Bots. Before the Chiller can escape, he is grabbed by Tails and Porker, the heat from Sonic's trail melted the ice. Sonic reverses the machine's effects and convinces the Chiller to try turning his talents to helping the zone's residents out, starting with inventing something to mop up the melting ice.
Trivia[]
- The Chiller's weather control experiments would be revisited later in the comic's run by Windy Wallis, though she is notably more adept at actually altering the weather, as opposed to merely changing the temperature drastically.
