The barman or owner of a bar in the Streets of Rage series played a minor part in the development of two other characters. The middle-aged man, complete with tight black T-shirt and slicked-back hair, took offence to Roach when the thug roughly thrashed his pinball machine around, but pleaded with him to "go easy" on it. In turn, Roach decided to use violence as an answer, pointing his revolver up the barman's nose. His cool demeanour immediately betrayed him, rapidly begging Roach to leave him alone and apologised for upsetting him. His life was spared when Skates appeared, with the eight gang members heading elsewhere for some beers. Watching them go, the barman's wife expressed relief that the "bums" had left. Meanwhile, the threatened man regained his composure and yelled after Roach, calling them all "punks".
