A solar-powered hover scooter is an invention created by Tekno the Canary as her entry into Enviro-Fete '98. Painted a vivid shade of gold, the environmentally-friendly vehicle draws its power from the Sun, meaning it requires no petrol. Since it hovers, it also removes any worries about punctures and leaves no mess on the ground. The scooter was so successful that the Enviro-Fete judges awarded it first place as soon as they saw it. Tyson Dense took offense to the win and chased Tekno and Amy Rose with his wood-cutting contraption. The girls steered the scooter through the forest of the Emerald Hill Zone, trying to evade certain death whilst remaining within the speed limit. The chase took them through dense woodland, with Amy rescuing a picnicking insect on the way. From the back of the scooter, Amy was eventually able to shoot down Dense's machine and end the chase.
Although not quite the same, Amy and Tekno each piloted similar scooters in further adventures. The first one after Enviro-Fete resembled Tekno's prize-winner, albeit blue and slightly rounder. The second one bore no resemblance, basically just being a flat platform with two steering levers.
