Small Change is a complete Tails story that first appeared in Issue 88 of Sonic the Comic. It was later reprinted in Issue 184.

Story[]
All Boomers know of Grimer, Doctor Robotnik's chief scientist. However, very few have heard of Slimy, Grimer's equally evil cousin. The inventor is keen to test out his new reducing ray and soon gets his chance when Tails walks by, minding his own business. The fox's day is quickly ruined when hit by the beam and he begins to shrink rapidly. Before long, Tails is much smaller than the grass he was standing on. Worse still, at this size, he is an easy target for ants (one of which he punches) and even dewdrops from leaves. His situation gets worse when he narrowly avoids being crushed by Hulko-Droid, Slimy's bulky robot. Slimy orders the Badnik to crush the nearby villagers, hoping to get Grimer's job when news of this victory reaches Robotnik.
At his tiny size, there is little Tails can do to stop Hulko-Droid. However, he uses this to his advantage, flying through a small gap in its armour. Once inside, Tails isn't entirely sure how to stop the droid, but tugging on its wires causes it to shut-down in a cloud of smoke. Tails emerges and returns to full size when the ray's effects wear off. A furious Slimy turns his weapon up to full power, aiming to shrink Tails to infinity. Unfortunately, the blast reflects back to him off of Hulko-Droid's motionless body and causes Slimy to become smaller than an atom. His "biggest" worry is how Robotnik will notice him at this size...
