Route 99 is a street in the Metropolis Zone. The road was the scene of a battle between Chaos and the Metropolis City Police. When the officers' guns failed to make an impact, the men were replaced by Sonic the Hedgehog and the Freedom Fighters. Their first battle ended well, with Chaos escaping into the sewers after giving Sonic green eyes. Upon Porker Lewis' arrival, Chaos returned. After a frantic battle, Chaos was temporarily destroyed, albeit at the cost of Johnny Lightfoot's life.
