Penguins are birds that live on Planet Earth and Mobius. They are black and white flightless creatures that live almost exclusively in cold regions, particularly Antartica and Polarzone. They are often characterised by living in large groups and their tendency to waddle when walking.
Penguins in Sonic the Comic[]
Although penguins are rare in Sonic the Comic, a few key characters have appeared. Tux was a character from the early Sonic the Hedgehog video games and made several background appearances as an unnamed member of the Emerald Hill folk. When the minor characters were removed, Tux went absent. He later returned in The Battle For Mobius as part of the Turquoise Hill Zone resistance.
Before Tux's comeback, another penguin was introduced in the form of Willie Waddle. He is a comedian from the Polarzone who now works in the Metropolis Zone, specialising in jokes about Doctor Robotnik. This soon led to him being dumped by Robotnik in the Scorchio Zone, under the guise of a walrus representative from Mobius Airways. Waddle has helped out Tails on two occasions, distracting a Sandworm Badnik on their first meeting and later returned home to save the fox from drowning.
