A news programme is a television show dedicated to revealing current affairs stories to the general public. Often presented by one or two people, the shows often occur several times a day, every day and follow a strict format.

- Sally Acorn was once one of the Emerald Hill folk but moved into a career of journalism. On one of her broadcasts, she revealed that the Death Egg had fallen out of the sky and Doctor Robotnik was missing. Her show was seen later in Robotnik Forever! and The Battle For Mobius, the latter as a live broadcast from the Turquoise Hill Zone.
- Kat Adie is the presenter of Zone At Ten. She was at the scene when the Freedom Fighters instigated a riot in the Metropolis Zone. Police Chief Bodger later requested to speak with her.
- Lotte Sinclair works for the Kane Broadcasting Company and broke the "news" that Sonic the Hedgehog had attacked the Green Hill Zone.
- Clark Bent, a reporter for Smallzone News, was arrested for faking news stories that endangered the public.
- A dog reported from outside the Highview Corrective Centre but had to repeat the recording after being heckled.
