Kintobor tells a story. Art by Adam "T-Bird" Tuff.
New to Sonic the Comic? (or New to STC?) is a feature exclusive to Sonic the Comic Online. Although it does not appear within the pages of the comic itself, instead linked to from the latest issue's home page, the feature's contents are tied to the comic's history, which it attempts to explain to new readers.
History[]
Due to STC-O's slow updating schedule and the length of time since the print run's release, new Boomers were complaining that the stories were hard to get into without a knowledge of the universe's history. Although the Data Zone goes some way to describe characters and recent events, it was felt that a more general explanation of Sonic the Comic's history was needed.
"New to STC?" is a story narrated by the Kintobor Computer. Told in panels, the tale covers Mobian history and the creation of Sonic the Hedgehog as Mobius' best-known hero.
Three panels were available on launch (alongside Issue 261), briefly covering Sonic's transformation into a blue hedgehog and the accident that turned Doctor Kintobor into Doctor Ivo Robotnik. More of the story is due to be released periodically.
Initial uploads[]
The feature's format is unique as it offers different artists the chance to contribute a part of the story. As of the release of Issue 261, three artists have provided a panel each:
The feature was updated on the 5th June with three more panels:
- Jin Chan Yum Wai
- Jon Gray and Pete Murphy
- Pete Murphy
By the end of the anniversary year, the feature included 45 panels over 15 "pages" and dozens of artists, both new and from the print days of STC.

Trivia[]
- The format of the Kintobor Computer communicating STC's history directly to the readers is identical to Issue 25's Prologue: Once Upon a Planet..., plus subsequent stories Part 1: Kintobor spelled backwards is... and Part 2: A Tale of Tails. This feature can be considered a spiritual successor, although it covers much of the same content.
