Capital city of Planet Meridian in the Special Zone. First visited in Sonic the Comic Issue 84, New Tek is filled with the usual hustle and bustle of urban life. It has a rather large criminal element, however, with deranged crooks and super-villains running amok on a day-to-day basis. The city is also home to a significant number of heroes to balance things out, but it seems that the heroes and villains of the city are only around specifically to fight each other. These clashes are always broken up by the New Tek Police and while there is normally a great deal of collateral damage, very few citizens are severely hurt in these encounters. Sonic the Hedgehog briefly lived in New Tek City while he was stranded in the Special Zone. He was glad to leave it.
Known Residents[]
The following is a list of all known New Tek residents.
- The Chaotix Crew - The guardians of the Special Zone were once sought after by the police for a crime they didn't commit. The nature of this alleged crime has never been revealed, nor is is known how Chaotix finally cleared their name. Their Chaotix Tower headquarters is located in the centre of the city.
- Lt. Furor - Commander of the New Tek police force.
- Lord Sidewinder - Notorious crime boss and - unlike many of Meridian's super-villains - a genuine threat. He and his gang have threatened New Tek several times.
- Richie Rover - Young superhero wannabe.
- The Bruise Brothers - Twin brothers who constantly fight and demolish the city with their extreme rough-housing.
- The Zed Monkeys - Apallingly inept team of superheroes.
- The Crimson Cobra - Corporate mogul and would-be world conqueror.
- Blockhead Bill - Father of Mighty the Armadillo of the Chaotix Crew. Works with partner Society Max. Senile.
- Oscar the Pig - Former energy technician wanted in connection of terrorist plot to develop WMDs. Disappeared from New Tek years ago and has not been seen since.
- Hammerhead - Criminal kingpin responsible for setting up Oscar the Pig.
