Issue 95 is the ninety-fifth edition of Sonic the Comic. Released on the 8th of January 1997 at the price of £1.25, the issue contains four original strips (two of them new) and several features, as well as a Moto Bug pin-up and a free gift of a "spinner". This is the first issue of STC to be published without a glossy cover; as a result it runs 32 pages in total rather than 36 as it had done previously.

Strips[]

Sonic the Hedgehog[]

The Big Fight is a complete story written by Nigel Kitching, drawn by Richard Elson, coloured by Steve White and Tom Frame. Sonic has been able to contact the Freedom Fighters from his new home, but is interrupted when the Bruise Brothers begin to tear up New Tek City. He tries to intervene, but it's down to their mother to save the day.

Knuckles the Echidna[]

Roots is a 3-part story by Kitching, Nigel Dobbyn and Elitta Fell. In Metropolis Park, Knuckles has discovered that a group of protestors are fighting to save the Elder Tree and its family. The party is broken up by Omen and the Armourillas, who battle Knuckles and Ebony. One of the gorillas' missiles goes awry, destroying the Elder Tree, so the others take their revenge by summoning a forest.

Amy[]

Out for a Spin is a complete story written by Lew Stringer, with art by Roberto Corona and White, letters by Gordon Robson. Whilst walking in the Emerald Hill Zone, Amy discovers a broken spinning top and takes it to Tekno's Workshop to be repaired. Her maiden flight is sabotaged by a group of EggRobos but she manages to use the top one more time to save her.

Sonic's World[]

The Monster Wakes is a 2-part story by Stringer, Corona, Andy Pritchett and Frame. The Freedom Fighters have accidentally unearthed a dragon who doesn't appreciate the all-out attack against it. After putting up with their feeble attempts, the dragon leaves, telling Tails to leave him alone. On the ground, Amy isn't happy with Shortfuse the Cybernik's attitude.

Features[]

An aggressive Megadroid plans to sort out the Humes in the Control Zone after they threw this week's free gift at him. After introducing the stories and features in the issue, he then explains how to use the spinner properly. The Sega Charts show new leaders across all charts; FIFA '97 is a new entry atop of the Mega Drive chart, Ecco the Dolphin re-enters the Mega-CD chart in first place whilst Tomb Raider and Dynamite Headdy move to the top of the Saturn and Game Gear charts, respectively.

Chris Jones presents the single page of the Review Zone, awarding Destruction Derby for the Saturn 75%. The Q Zone is also one page, with the final part of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Revisited. Speedlines features letters from Boomers about Megadroid's colour-changing goggles and there's a poem about STC and David Gibbon. Printed letters won readers a Sega Mega Hog Tag.
