Strips[]
Sonic the Hedgehog[]
The Hive is a 2-part story written by Nigel Kitching, drawn by Roberto Corona, coloured by Steve White and lettered by Tom Frame. The Hive, being visited by Sonic and Charmy Bee, is under attack from Vesper and his wasp army. The bee guards are easily thwarted and are forced to retreat further inside. Vesper makes it to the throne room but a cunning plan by Sonic sees the bees surrender, yet achieve the final victory when he sends the angry wasps shooting outside with no hope to return.
Captain Plunder[]
Shanghaied is a 3-part story co-starring Mr Fry which takes place in the Special Zone. Written by Kitching with art (and co-writing) by Richard Elson and lettering from Elitta Fell, the story sees Mr Fry return to the ship to fight off all the Sky Pirates. It's soon revealed he's only returned to cook them all some shark steak, but they soon also learn that the remaining sharks have had a taste of Proctor Speckle's transformation serum...
Decap Attack[]
The Legend of Mr Cuddle Bunny is a 3-part Decap story with writing and art by Kitching, co-writing by Richard Rayner and lettering by Ellie de Ville. Mr Cuddle Bunny has finally returned from his exile enforced by Igor to stop the plans of Mick C McTosis. The fight for Bunny's hat intensifies when it ends up in Chuck D. Head's bandages, as does everyone else. Cuddle Bunny wins his hat back but things get worse when old friend Mr Timothy Twitch turns up.
Sonic's World[]
Head in the Clouds is a complete story with writing from Lew Stringer, art by Corona (although looking more like the work of Carl Flint) and White, with lettering from Frame. Angered that Sonic is no longer on Mobius, Doctor Robotnik wants to remind his people that Sonic is never going to return and gets Grimer to construct an orbiting shuttle built in his image. The device is ready to launch after only two months but quickly crashes as soon as it's launched thanks to the rush.
Features[]
The Control Zone, hosted by Megadroid, briefly welcomes Boomers to this issue's stories and features while getting ready for Christmas next issue. All 80 winners of the Cool Patch Compo from Issue 81 are listed, winning them a Sonic 2 Jacket Patch. The Sega Charts are largely different this week, with Road Rash 2 moving to the top of the Mega Drive chart and Exhumed doing the same for Saturn. Micro Machines 2 returns to head the Game Gear list while Brutal: Paws of Fury is the only non-mover, sticking to the top of the Mega-CD list.
Chris Jones handles both reviews in this issue's Review Zone awarding Terry Pratchett's Discworld 85% while giving Virtua Fighter Kids a massive 95%. The Q Zone continues by revisiting the bosses of Angel Island Zone from Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Speedlines closes things with a picture of the "Smashing Badniks" band, a request for the price of Segaworld and that Richard Elson has inspired someone to become an artist.
