Issue 7 is the seventh edition of Sonic the Comic, the UK's official SEGA comic. Released on the 21st August 1993, at the price of 95p, the issue contained four original strips, three new, as well as several features and a competition to win a book by Tony Takoushi.

Sonic the Hedgehog[]

Super Sonic is a complete story and is the first by the Nigel Kitching/Richard Elson partnership, with lettering by Elitta Fell. Sonic and Tails are called to the Oil Ocean Zone by Red to defuse all the area's traps, but Sonic finds himself overpowered by one Aquis Badnik. It seems all over for our hero, until he turns into the psychotic Super Sonic!

Kid Chameleon[]

Kid Chameleon is a 6-part story written by Michael Cook, with art shared by Brian Williamson and Steve White and lettering by Ellie de Ville. Casey is a regular kid who loves to play video games but his life changes when he's told that Suzi has moved in next door. He follows her to Wildside, the new arcade experience but worries when she doesn't return for hours. On entry, Casey discovers The Voice, his nemesis, is going to take him on a little adventure...

Streets of Rage[]

Streets of Rage is a 6-part story by Mark Millar, Peter Richardson and Tom Frame. Officer Axel Stone is called to the scene of a crime but is ambushed by corrupt cops for squealing on his friends. Colleagues Max Hatchet and Blaze Fielding worry about him by their bedside before resigning in front of a shocked Captain Wyndam. Elsewhere, crime lord Hawk is exercising when he hears about their defection and is very interested in what they do next.

Wonder Boy[]

Wonder Boy in Demon World is an 8-part adventure taking place in Demon World. The story, written by Mark Eyles, drawn by M DJ Boyann, coloured by John M Burns and lettered by Steve Potter, sees Shion under attack by his own hand. Drum of The Shame Inn instructs his punters not to harm him as he has the mark of Grimomen but the Wonder Boy manages to restain his arm before it can kill him. After stowing away on a boat, Shion comes face to face with the demon and demands his friends to be released.

Features[]

The Control Zone, hosted by Megadroid, introduces Boomers to this issue's stories and features, particularly the two new series. There's also a teaser for the direction Sonic stories plan to take (starting from The Origin of Sonic, plus new books by David Gibbon and Tony Takoushi, the latter having 100 copies up for grabs in a competition. There's also a mention of 'Sonic the Hedgehog scratchcards' being issued by the Scouts for charity. The Sega Charts see Road Avenger and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 remain top of the Mega-CD/Master System charts. Elsewhere, Jungle Strike is a new entry on top of the Mega Drive list and the handheld version of Sonic 2 also moves up to head the Game Gear chart.

Takoushi reviews three titles in this issue's Review Zone, with Shinobi 3 winning with 85%. Gunstar Heroes for the Mega Drive gets 80% while Make My Video: INXS follows with 70% for "not really [being] a game". The News Zone brings information on the Game Gear version of the Game Genie and Damon Hill officiates a race between Sonic in a Formula 1 car and a fleet of Sega Buses. Aside from this, there's news on new Logic 3 controllers and James Pond's return to the Mega Drive. What's more, there's also a list of games released in September for everybody's Christmas lists!

Gibbon watches over the Q Zone with tips on Micro Machines, Mick & Mack: Global Gladiators, Cobra Command and Sonic the Hedgehog 2. There's also codes for three Game Genie titles. Finally, Speedlines sees Megadroid answer letters on Chuck Rock, which console to get for Christmas, other Sega strips and saw someone get so excited about writing to STC, they didn't finish their dinner. Published letters won readers a Sonic 2 Badge.
