Strips[]
Sonic the Hedgehog[]
Project Brutus is a 4-part story by Lew Stringer, Richard Elson and Ellie de Ville. Under attack from Commander Brutus in the Pleasant Zone, the Freedom Fighters narrowly avoid execution at the hands of the Troopers and hide away for a while. In Citadel Robotnik, Doctor Robotnik is not happy to hear that Brutus. The heroes and villains get involved in a large brawl, with Brutus proving indestructible. When Amy Rose is captured, Brutus is forced to respond to angry transmission from Robotnik, but is pleased to announce he has captured the outlaws.
Ecco the Dolphin[]
Return of Ecco the Dolphin is the second 6-part Ecco story written by Alan McKenzie with art by Stevie White and lettering by Tom Frame. Having reached The Vortex's planet, Ecco disables a guard's sensor and contacts The Asterite so it can send his friends home. The Vortex realise something is wrong but Ecco gets his family home in time. Unfortunately, he is now stranded.
Knuckles and Tails[]
The Revenge of Trogg is a 6-part story by Nigel Kitching with lettering from Tom Frame. The Dark One has been defeated and Trogg is furious. He leaps into battle with Knuckles, but the echidna punches him off the Dimension Bridge and into the non-existent space. Back in the Nameless Zone, Morain is reunited with Errol Blackthorn but the peace is shattered when Trogg returns. Soon enough, the Dark One's power fades and he reverts back to Shirob.
Sonic's World[]
Cybernik Strikes Back is a 5-part story written by Stringer, drawn by Carl Flint, coloured by John M Burns and lettered by Steve Potter. Shortfuse the Cybernik returns Tekno the Canary back to her workshop and asks her again to build a bomb. After an adjustment to his armour, the pair fly to the Chemical Plant Zone. Shortfuse deals with a Balkiry fleet while Tekno plants the bomb. However, their escape plan goes wrong with the arrival of Metamorphia.
Features[]
This issue's Control Zone sees a dressed-up Megadroid introduce Boomers to Hallowe'en as well as introducing the several features and competitions. There is also a step-by-step guide on how to put together this issue's free gift. The Sega Charts are largely unchanged, with Brian Lara Cricket, FIFA International Soccer and Sonic Chaos still topping their respective charts. Strider 2 is the only new leader, moving up in the Game Gear chart.
Hallowe'en is also the subject of the Graphic Zone, with STC characters dressed up for the occasion. Successful entries won Boomers a pack of Crayola Overwriters. The Q Zone sees David Gibbon begin a Road Rash 3 special, giving tips on what to do on each course.
Speedlines is special this issue, since all "letters" have been sent by the STC Speedtrack service. Emails are about previously unsuccessful submissions to the feature and praise for the new Megadroid and cover designs. However, there's also a complaint about Sonic looking like a "pig" and Tails being a "complete wimp". Nevertheless, all entries won the readers a Highgrove Sonic Stationary set.
