The Rampage of Mekanik is a 2-part story written by Lew Stringer and drawn by Nigel Kitching, with colours from John M Burns and letters from Elitta Fell. Doctor Robotnik has discovered that the Emerald Hill Zone is now deserted, but Grimer convinces him to cause havoc elsewhere, namely the Stone Tower Zone with the massive Mekanik. The Freedom Fighters try to bring it down to no avail and not even Shortfuse the Cybernik can stop the beast catching Sonic and preparing to roast him alive.

Kid Chameleon[]

Back to Unreality! is a 6-part story by Michael Cook, Brian Williamson, Steve White and Tom Frame. Casey is being taken to Islecatraz and The Voice states that their is no escape. Casey turns into Maniaxe and frees the other prisoners of Wildside before turning his axe on Brad. He then follows him to the telepad but ends up in the sky above the sea. Quickly, he turns into Cyclone and continues the chase.

Knuckles the Echidna[]

Total Chaotix is a 6-part story written by Kitching, drawn by Richard Elson and lettered by Fell. Knuckles is fighting with a Metallix but isn't having much luck. Fortunately, he brings it down long enough to find the Chaotix Crew stuck underneath the Egg Fortress' debris. As the Metallix gets to its feet, Nack the Weasel leads them straight to the rest of the Brotherhood of Metallix.

Sparkster[]

Last of the Rocket Knights! is a 6-part story written by Kitching, with art by Keith Page and letters from Steve Potter. As Sparkster struggles with the magic gem, King Gedol's wedding is halted by his mother, Stubb. Sparkster starts to fight demonic images of himself until he realises they are only illusions and smashes the gem that put them there. Gedol's control of Elhorn is lifted and the chapel is filled with angry opossums.

Features[]

Megadroid begins the Control Zone by introducing the stories and features inside, before looking forward to the new-look STC next issue. In celebration of the new Judge Dredd movie, there are also vaguely-related pictures from Boomers that win a pack of Crayola Overwriters. It's all change in the Sega Charts; Theme Park is a new-entry at the top of the Mega Drive. Meanwhile, Mickey Mania, Winter Olympics and Sonic 2 move up to head the Mega-CD, Master System and Game Gear charts respectively.

Following on from the Judge Dredd theme, the new game is given 87% by Jenny Fromer and an advertisement for the new Judge Dredd comic also appears. Away from the Judge, Wayne Gretsky and the NHLPA All Stars receives 90% from David Gibbon. Gibbon returns for a "Q&A Special" of the Q Zone, answering questions about Cannon Fodder, Earthworm Jim, Mickey Mania (all MD), Micro Machines (MS) and Sonic Chaos (GG).

Speedlines features letters from budding DJs, a Knuckles hater and someone else who dislikes Q Zone specials dedicated to individual games.
