Sonic the Hedgehog
Ultimatum is a complete story and the first part of Sonic the Hedgehog's fall from grace. Written by Ed Reynolds with art by Stiv and lettering by Charles Ellis, the story begins with the Metropolis Zone reeling from a Mega Mack bombing. When the Freedom Fighters are ordered to surrender by an unknown villain, Sonic tracks the voice down to the Hill Top Zone but is attacked. In his absence, a Sonic impersonator announces his rule over Mobius.
Emergency Program One is a complete story by Reynolds and Matthew Allen Smith. Tikal has just witnessed the rise of Vichama and the death of Knuckles the Echidna. With no idea what to do, she follows a troop of Guardian Robots that lead her to the Guardian Emerald and the creation of a new guardian of the Floating Island.
Tekno & Shorty
Sunrise is a complete story by Mike Corker and Chris G. Six months after being sucked through the Ring of Eternity, Shorty the Squirrel is enjoying his new life in Solstice. Tekno the Canary is handling the experience less easily, but Shorty tells her he has a meeting with The Regent. Unfortunately, his plan goes awry when he is forced to fight Slave One for Tekno's freedom.
A new-look Megadroid welcomes Boomers to the 15th year of Sonic the Comic and annouces the strips and features inside, before asking Boomers to vote for STC-O in the Eagle Awards. The winner of the Sonic the Poster Mag 2007 Competition Zone feature is revealed to be Pete Murphy, who wins a printed copy of Issue 224. Murphy guessed that 694 baubles were spinning in the ball, the closest guess to the correct answer of 624.
The Data Zone gives brief introductions to a variety of characters, including Sonic, Tails, Amy Rose, Porker Lewis, Tekno, Shorty, Tikal, Knuckles and Vichama. Iain Stewart covers NiGHTS: Journey Into Dreams for the Review Zone, but marks it down with a score of 50%.
