Cover of Issue 226

Issue 226 is the two hundred and twenty-sixth edition of Sonic the Comic and the third edition of Sonic the Comic Online. Released on the 30th of August 2003, it contained two new stories and a poster.

Sonic the Hedgehog

In the Heat of the Night is a complete story, yet one that marks the end of a trilogy of Sonic the Hedgehogstrips. Written by Ed Reynolds, drawn by Thalia Evans and lettered by Michael Stewart, the adventure starts out with Big the Cat and Buddy sailing on the ocean, before witnessing the appearance of three Guardian Robots rising out of the sea. Underwater, Sonic is changing into Super Sonic and there's nothing that the sudden appearance of Tikal can do to stop it. Worse, Doctor Zachary is here and he wants to enslave Super. Ebony and Porker Lewis somehow teleport into the Emerald Chamber where Super has turned back into Sonic, who then knocks out Zachary. Soon after, the Guardian Robots from earlier, affected by Super's Chaos energy successfully raise the Floating Island from the sea back to where it belongs. Big and Buddy are also trapped on the island...

Amy Rose

Impressions is a 2-part story, which was written and drawn by Mike Corker, with lettering coming from Kerrie Mock. Amy has a dream where an evil Johnny Lightfoot jumps out his grave and attacks Amy. When she wakes up, screaming, the "real" Johnny bursts into the room to comfort her. He convinces Amy that the whole adventure involving Johnny's death was a dream and the pair go for a walk. After recounting the Chaos story to Johnny, he conjures a scythe from nowhere and attacks Amy.

In the Control Zone, Megadroid informs readers about a new comic project, Manuwahi, created by former STC contributors Roberto Corona and Nigel Dobbyn. Speedlines also makes its first appearance in STC-O, with many readers amazed that Sonic the Comic is back. There are even letters from current editor Charles Ellis (who requested a new Kid Chameleon strip, something that hasn't yet happened) and Claire Ryan, also known as Mambocat, who is curently a moderator for the Message Zone.

This issue also contained a poster of this issue's cover, drawn by Rich Morgan.

The 'next issue' page also teased a free gift, which turned out to be a scary Megadroid mask.

The previous issue of Sonic the Comic Online was Issue 225. The next is Issue 227.
