
Issue 162 is the one hundred and sixty-second edition of Sonic the Comic. Released on the 11th August 1999 at the price of £1.30, the issue contains one new, ongoing strip and three reprints, as well as several features, a "great galactic pin-up" and a competition to win Action Man goodies.

Strips[]
Space Race is a 2-part story written by Lew Stringer, drawn by Richard Elson and lettered by Ellie de Ville. Sonic has lost the race with Turbo and now the Vargz are chasing Skorrg's ship, with Amy Rose on board. Amy manages to pilot the stranded ship for so long, but is soon shot down and Turbo is beamed back aboard his ship. Sonic jumps in the teleporter beam with him and, together, the hedgehogs defeat the Vargz. Elsewhere, Grimer has sighted Sonic and Amy, while Doctor Robotnik has something planned for them.

The theme of this issue's Graphic Zone is "Cosmic Pics", with the STC cast (and a young Boomer appearing space-related artwork, many connected to Star Wars. All printed pictures won a Sonic the Hedgehog watch.
