Sonic the Hedgehog
Shanazar is a complete story by Nigel Kitching, Richard Elson and Ellie de Ville. Sonic has shrunk himself with a Transportation Belt and ended up in the world of Shanazar, keen to find Grimer and Nack the Weasel. Explaining his situation to the public doesn't work, but an altercation with the Imperial Guards and genie-summoner Fajar leads to Sonic meeting his adversaries in the palace dungeons. When all three are summoned to see the Grand Vizier, they are all shocked to discover he is actually Doctor Kintobor!
The Thirteenth Task is a complete story as part of the Eternity Ring story arc. Written by Lew Stringer, drawn by Roberto Corona, coloured by Nigel Dobbyn and lettered by Elitta Fell, Tekno the Canary and Amy's next stop is Ancient Greece, where they must face "Hercules the Magnificent"... once he gets over his touch of wind. Tekno explains that he is the son of Zeus and is a hero of superhuman strength tasked by Eurytheus of Arcos with twelve challenges. Later, Hercules drowns his sorrows with more food, but this hinders him when he engages in battle with the Minotaur. The girls step in and Hercules' gratitude is what allows him entry to Mount Olympus.
Forbidden Island is a complete story written by Stringer, drawn by Andy Pritchett and lettered by Tom Frame. When the Kintobor Computer informs Tails, Johnny Lightfoot and Shortfuse the Cybernik of the location of the main Doctor Robotnik Appreciation Tribe headquarters, the heroes head straight there, but a force field cuts out Shorty's armour and Tails' Bi-plane, causing them to go back. Later, Tails returns with Charmy Bee and the two reach the island. While Charmy is fighting, Tails finds the control room and reverses the polarity of the neutron flow, making the D.R.A.T. members' battle armour useless. Victorius, Tails and Charmy have ended D.R.A.T.'s ambitions.
FeaturesThis issue's Graphic Zone theme is "to Sonic with love!" and is a Valentine's Day special. All entries published received a Sonic the Hedgehog watch. The feature was particularly notable for containing a picture by Zak Simmonds-Hurn, a future Sonic the Comic Online and professional artist. The Next Issue page promises a "right royal issue", with two issues containing either a princess or a Queen.
