Strips[]
Sonic the Hedgehog[]
Roots is a 4-part story by Nigel Kitching, Richard Elson and Ellie de Ville. Sonic and the Chaotix Crew are heading to the Mandrake Swamp to rescue Blockhead Bill and Society Max from Root. The beast is busy berating Bill for his failure to carry out simple instructions, but turns his attention to the heroes when they arrive in the swamp. Mud monsters are sent to capture them, eventually achieving this by putting them to sleep with spores.
Amy[]
Prehistoric Ways is a complete story by Lew Stringer, with art by Roberto Corona and Nigel Dobbyn, Gordon Robson supplying the lettering. The Ring of Eternity has sent Amy and Tekno the Canary to Planet Granite, where two civilisations are just starting out. The Thickskull Tribe bully the Meek Tribe until the girls step in. Instead of providing weapons that may start a war, they encourage the two to talk over cucumber sandwiches.
Knuckles the Echidna[]
The Take-Over is a 4-part story written by Kitching, drawn by Nigel Dobbyn and lettered by Elitta Fell. A blinded Knuckles has been thrown off the Floating Island but manages to latch on to the underneath as his sight returns. Unfortunately, the rock gives way, sending him further down. Even a secret hatch isn't a positive, as bats come flooding out. On the island, Porker Lewis watches the four villains from the Emerald Chamber and sends the Guardian Robots to stop Ms Alpha's team.
Features[]
Megadroid confesses to feeling homesick (perhaps a sign of him leaving four issues later) in the Control Zone before introducing the issue's stories and features and teases information about next issue's free gift. There is also news of the Spice Girls/Cheetos competition that will be in Issue 137.
The theme of this issue's Graphic Zone is "Space Craft", with the STC cast involved in several space-related pictures. Everything published won artists a Sonic the Hedgehog watch. Letters in Speedlines complain about Sonic and Knuckles, someone asks about Charmy Bee's power and there are two Tails fans, one asking how he flies without the tails getting tangled up.
