Strips[]

Sonic the Hedgehog[]

Shady Characters is a 2-part Sonic the Hedgehog story, written by Lew Stringer, drawn by Richard Elson and lettered by Tom Frame. With Doctor Robotnik defeated, Sonic assembles the Freedom Fighters to prepare for a raid on the abandoned Flickies' Island. Johnny Lightfoot elects to stay behind and guard the Emerald Hill Zone; agreeing, the others fly off, but Johnny teleports away. On the way, Sonic and friends are all attacked by thousands of Badniks and are captured. The plan was devised by Agent X, who turns out to be Johnny! The traitor zaps Sonic and it appears he is dead...

Tails[]

Making the News is a complete story starring Tails. Written by Stringer, drawn by Mick McMahon and lettered by Gordon Robson, the story follows Clark Bent, reporter for Smallzone TV News. Fed up with mundane events in his home town, his wish is granted when he gets to report on a live dinosaur attack. However, Tails discovers that the carnage is just Bent playing around with toys and is swiftly arrested.

Decap Attack[]

Decap-Man is the final Decap Attack story and is a 2-part adventure written by Nigel Kitching with lettering from Ellie de Ville. Professor Frank N. Stein is ecstatic, finally inventing something that will turn Chuck D. Head into the ultimate human. Forcing him into a device made mainly from a barbecue, Igor turns up the settings too high, making the thing explode. From within the cloud emerges a very different Chuck and Head. Feeling that he doesn't belong in the castle, the buff Chuck flies through the roof, determined to thwart evil. Days later, a famous Decap-Man appears in the paper, much to Frank's disbelief.

Double Sonic[]

Game On! is a complete story starring Sonic, creative works coming from Stringer, Roberto Corona, John M Burns and Elitta Fell. Sonic routinely takes on a Badnik but seems to be killed... until he comes back to fight it again. It seems it's actually just humans playing a video game. As they walk to the park, they themselves are attacked by a Badnik, but two of the children beat it with their football. It turns out that Sonic has been playing a game designed by Tekno the Canary.

Features[]

In this issue's Control Zone, Megadroid goes through the stories and promises more free gifts in upcoming issues. There is also news on the second part of the Buddies and Baddies poster which appears inside.

In Speedlines, one readers asks why some of the bad guys wear white gloves as well as the "goodies", another defends Megadroid's treatment by the Humes, there's a request for more villains and somebody else confuses Espio the Chameleon as being a girl. Pictures are of a boy at Segaworld and Sonic, Tails and Mighty the Armadillo playing football.

This week's Graphic Zone is in spirit of World Cup '98, with characters dressing up to represent several of the competing teams.
