Issue 129

Issue 129 is the one hundred and twenty-ninth edition of Sonic the Comic. Released on the 6th May 1998 at the price of £1.25, the comic contains three original stories (three of them new) and a "Making Waves" pin-up.

Sonic the Hedgehog[]

Robotnik Reigns Supreme is a story written by Nigel Kitching, drawn by Richard Elson and lettered by Tom Frame, where Doctor Robotnik finally gains the power of a god and tortures Sonic in an alternate reality. In this part, Robotnik begins by taking Sonic 65 years into his future, where he learns that he has still not beaten Robotnik after all this time. Robotnik then warps reality several times, turning Mobius into several cartoons and stupid scenarioes, such as Peter Pan, Roadrunner, the House of Commons, a deadly goldfish bowl and a graveyard. When Sonic proclaims he could easily beat Robotnik if he didn't have his powers, so Robotnik resurrects a Metallix to fight Sonic.

Tails[]

Clear As Mud is a complete Tails story, written by Lew Stringer, drawn by Carl Flint, coloured by John M Burns and lettered by Elitta Fell. In the Eldorado Zone, Tails and Harry Mole have been drafted in to solve the case of a theft at the Museum of Arty Art. Though initially stumped, the villain reveals himself to be Loot the Treasure Seeker and disappears with another priceless artefact. Although it seems like he's teleported away, Tails realises he's turned invisible and sprays him with mud. Loot is finaly stopped by a molehill of Harry's.

Decap Attack[]

Dungeon is a complete Decap Attack story, written and drawn by Kitching, with lettering by Ellie de Ville. When the radiator at Castle Frank N. Stein breaks, Chuck D Head has to go into the dungeon to fix the boiler. There, he's accosted by vampires wanting to eat him. Eventually returning to the surface, Chuck tricks Igor, the one who set him up with a meeting with the vampires, into thinking he has turned into one, sporting false teeth.

Amy[]

Fights, Camera Action is a complete Amy story, written by Stringer, drawn by Nigel Dobbyn and lettered by Gordon Robson. After witnessing Amy Rose and Tekno the Canary deal with another of D.R.A.T.'s plans, film director Wilbur Z. Sprockethole the Third tells the girls he is making a movie about them, but neglects to say that two macho actors are taking their part. When they storm out of the filming, the pair have to fight off a series of Badniks who are being used for special effects.

Features[]

This fortnight's Control Zone gives information about next issue's 5th birthday celebrations, particularly about 17 page Sonic story, Showdown. Letters in Speedlines query why there are no Dennis the Menace or Teletubbies stories in the comic, as well as wondering how Sonic's Spin Attack works. All letters published earned Boomers an Enamel Badge. The theme of this week's Graphic Zone is "Screen Idols", with the STC cast emulating several famous movie poses. Everything printed here won a Sonic the Hedgehog watch.
