Sonic the Hedgehog[]
The Evil Empire is a 4-part story by Nigel Kitching, Richard Elson and Tom Frame. Sonic is being escorted to his Trial By Combat, ready to fight the Metallix Mark 3. Doctor Robotnik is keen to get the fight over with so that he can take control of Mobius once more, but the battle is a tough one. Outside, a frantic Tails watches on, terrified that his hero is losing.
Miles "Tails" Prower[]
The Unbrushables is a complete story in the style of a gangster movie. Written by Lew Stringer, drawn by Nigel Dobbyn and lettered by Ellie de Ville. The Casino Night Zone has been taken over by thugs under the employ of Max Gamble. Shops are being trashed when the owners can't pay their protection money, so Tails is here to put things right. After the fox leads the citizens in a fight against their oppressors, Tails learns that Gamble is working for Doctor Robotnik and convinces the lackeys not to work for someone like that. The Zone is free from crime again!
Decap Attack[]
The Tooth is a complete story written by Kitching and Richard Rayner, with art from Mick McMahon and lettering from Frame. Nerys H. Aboristwith, local dentist, has been called to Castle Frank N. Stein to deal with Chuck D. Head and his toothache. The woman is forceful, ripping a tooth out and filling it up with cement but is forced to leave when she realises it isn't the home of Lord Wobblebury.
Amy Rose[]
Star Struck is a 2-part story featuring the introduction of Fabian Vane. Written by Stringer, drawn by Roberto Corona, coloured by John M Burns and lettered by Elitta Fell, the story sees that Vane is still every bit the superstar. Unfortunately, during a phone-in with Chloe, he's threatened once more and new bodyguards Amy and Tekno the Canary head out to stop Bruiser Magoon. The ladies soon learn that Vane's mob is comprised of people that used to work for Vane. Worse still, Peter Android is the new big thing!
Features[]
The Control Zone, hosted by Megadroid, welcomes Boomers to this issue's stories and considers taking on a minder to protect him. The "Impressive Impostors" section sees readers dressed as up as their favourite STC characters, with Message Zone member Lynne Triplett "impersonating" Knuckles. Speedlines has readers send in letters about living in South Africa (and asking how Sonic turned blue), a joke and a comparison with the North American comic series. Disturbingly, Sonic takes part in Blind Date with Tails, Knuckles and Doctor Robotnik, while Sonic riding a vinyl record is labelled a Disc Jockey (ha!). Everything printed in Speedlines wins a Sonic Mystery Prize.
