Story[]
Sonic the Hedgehog has smashed his way into a Doctor Robotnik Appreciation Tribe building to shut down their plans for world domination. Unfortunately, he is too late to stop one agent firing two missiles, one at the Hill Top Zone and another at the Metropolis Zone. Realising that the impact sites are miles apart, Sonic sprints to the Hill Top Zone and knocks the first missile into space with a mini tornado. He then heads to Metropolis City, rebuffing an autograph seeker on the way. Inside the city, Sonic only just makes and has to trap the blast in a speed cocoon, causing the missile to implode. With the missile trashed, the city is saved.
However, nobody appears to be moving. Two baseball fans seem to be "playing statues", but Sonic notes that the clock isn't moving. He wonders if some mad professor has been experimenting with time travel and heads to a newspaper vendor to check for clues. However, touching the paper results in it exploding into shreds. Just then, the clock moves forward a second, suggesting that time has slowed. The baseball player catches the ball and Sonic realises that he is still moving super-fast. In order to find a way to relax, Sonic heads into the Cyber Café.
Some time later, Tails arrives to find Sonic sleeping in front of the computer. Tails discovers that Sonic was looking at the Trainspotter's Web Page! Nevertheless, things have returned to normal.
Trivia[]
- The story's title is named after the term "hypersonic speed." The same term is also the source of the name for Hyper Sonic, a transformation Sonic makes in Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
- The adventure takes place either before or after the current events in the Special Zone this issue.
- Sonic states that D.R.A.T. are after global domination. It has only previously been mentioned that they just wish to have Doctor Robotnik back as leader of Mobius.
- Sonic thinking that time has frozen but discovering that it has just slowed down is similar to the Omni-Viewer's situation when he traps Super Sonic.
- Tails notes that Sonic is on the Trainspotter's Web Page, but nothing is on the screen.
- Tails' shoes are coloured all red, rather than half white.
- The plot of this story resembles the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog episode Mass Transit Trouble.
