Story[]

Sonic the Hedgehog is speeding through a Zone and is getting much admiration. Tails is flying close behind, but the public can't even remember his name. Lacking self-confidence, Tails notices a poster offering self-improvement lessons. Sonic finds the fox and asks if he's coming to the Greenfield Zone or not. Tails declines and makes his way to see Doctor Sorders, a hypnotist. In her studio, Sorders turns on a lamp that sends Tails into a trance, before repeating that he's cool. When the treatment ends, Tails wakes up feeling much better and cartwheels around the room. In fact, Sorders wonders if she overdid the treatment as Tails flies away, completely out of character. In the Greenfield Zone, the Greenfield Zone Leader informs Sonic that Alf Bandstand's hot air balloon is going down because his co-pilot pecked a hole in it. Suddenly, Tails appears in a backwards cap and shades, attracting a flock of fickle girls. The situation in the balloon is worsening, but Tails has now disappeared, rushing into the salon to have his fur groomed.

To snap Tails out of it, Sonic taunts the young hero, stating that Tails isn't up for it. Tails objects and flies up the balloon, roughly catching Bandstand as he falls. Later, Sorders arrives in the Zone and tells Sonic what happened. Amy Rose also joins the party and tells Sonic that Tails has been seen flying towards the Tough Tea Club in the Gravel Pit Zone. In the establishment, Tails picks a fight with an angry dog but is saved a beating when Sorders arrives and reverses the hypnotism. Tails is suddenly terrified and Sonic joins him in a scrap. Sorders ends things her way, hypnotising the Tough Tea regulars into being peace-loving hippies.

Trivia[]

  • Tails is called Paws by a member of the public. Similarly, he would later be called "Fringe" by Jet the Hawk.
  • Despite being a woodpecker, Alf Bandstand's co-pilot never flies out of the balloon to safety.
  • A regular in the Tough Tea Club yells "Oi! Hedgehog! No!", a line that Doctor Robotnik uttered just four issues ago. Both are taken from a Harry Enfield sketch.
  • Sorders suggests that she hypnotise all the brawlers in the Tough Tea Club. However, as she begins to hypnotise them, everyone is in a green Zone.
