Candlewick Green Zone is a Zone on Mobius that contains both underground and cavernous locations. It was first revealed to be a built-up area by the "future" version of Sonic the Hedgehog (who later turned out to just be a clone). In an attempt to convince the Freedom Fighters that they were all in danger, the Sonic copy told a story of a time when he and the gang went to fight a drill weapon on the Zone's street. Sonic believed the drill to be otherwise harmless, but was left distraught when a hidden flamethrower engulfed his team, obliterating them all.
In the present day, the clone convinces the team to go to the Candlewick Green Zone and destroy the drill before it has been finished, saving them all. However, his plan turns out to be a trap to get the heroes into a cavern controlled by Doctor Robotnik and his Trooper forces. Captured by their greatest enemy, the Freedom Fighters learn that the "future" Sonic is just a copy implanted with false memories. Learning the truth, "Sonic" escapes the Zone and runs to fetch the real Sonic. The pair return to the Candlewick Green Zone and free their friends, while the dying clone saves his friend as his last act.
